Our client is a well-backed independent power producer headquartered in London, with a growing presence across multiple international markets.

The business has ambitious plans to build a multi-gigawatt portfolio of renewable energy assets and is entering a significant phase of expansion over the coming years.

Having already established a substantial portfolio of renewable generation projects, the company expects more than 1GW of operational capacity in the near term, alongside a secured development pipeline exceeding 2GW.

Supported by long‑term investors and an experienced leadership team, the organisation is continuing to invest in both its project portfolio and commercial capabilities as it scales across Europe.

Historically, the business has managed its route‑to‑market activities through its wider investment and commercial teams, supported by external expertise where required.

As the company continues to grow its European portfolio, it is now investing in building a dedicated in‑house Power Markets function to take ownership of activities including PPA origination, commercial structuring, market analysis, negotiation and revenue optimisation.

This position represents one of the early hires into that growing team, offering the opportunity to help shape the function as it develops.

Working closely with an experienced Lead PPA Manager and the wider investment team, the successful individual will have significant exposure across commercial strategy, project finance, asset management and portfolio optimisation, with the chance to influence how the business approaches route‑to‑market across its expanding portfolio.

The role would suit someone who enjoys combining analytical thinking with commercial execution and is looking to join a business where they can make a visible impact.

As the team continues to grow over the coming years, there will also be genuine opportunities to take on greater responsibility and play a key role in building the company's in‑house commercial capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse European electricity markets and evolving regulatory frameworks to identify commercial opportunities.
  • Monitor market trends and industry developments to support strategic decision‑making and route‑to‑market activities.
  • Originate, structure and negotiate Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with corporate offtakers, utilities and industrial customers.
  • Lead commercial discussions across key European markets, with a primary focus on Poland.
  • Support the execution of commercial transactions, including participation in government‑backed renewable energy support schemes.
  • Work closely with investment, finance, legal and asset management teams to optimise commercial outcomes and maximise portfolio value.
  • Contribute to the development of route‑to‑market strategies for a growing renewable energy portfolio.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with market participants and key commercial stakeholders across the European energy sector.
  • Collaborate closely with Investment, Legal, Finance and Asset Management teams to structure commercially attractive transactions and optimise portfolio performance.
  • Support the commercial evaluation of opportunities while helping to manage and mitigate market and contractual risk.
  • Contribute to commercial, regulatory and internal reporting requirements across the Power Markets function.
  • Manage the onboarding of new counterparties, ensuring a smooth and efficient transition through internal approval and operational processes.
  • Build strong cross‑functional relationships to support the successful execution of route‑to‑market strategies and commercial agreements.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Strong understanding of European electricity markets and regulatory frameworks
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to communicate findings effectively to internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience in Power Markets and execution for Solar PV, Onshore wind, or BESS. 5+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
  • Candidates with Consulting backgrounds may also be considered
  • Understanding of how to structure PPA transactions to optimise revenue and manage market risk
  • Understanding around financial concepts relevant to transaction evaluation is beneficial, as well as M&A transaction processes
  • Network of corporate buyers and utilities within the renewable energy sector is beneficial
  • Ability to function within a team and support the build‑out of our client's business.
