Are you an experienced electrical engineer with a passion for clean energy and a drive to lead nationally-significant projects? We’re working exclusively with a leading Independent Power Producer (IPP) that are scaling across the UK and Europe. They are seeking to hire a Lead Electrical Engineer to play a pivotal role in their delivery team.

About the Company

Our client is a fast-growing, privately-backed renewable energy IPP with a multi-GW pipeline of utility-scale solar, battery storage, and hybrid projects across the UK. With several sites already operational and a multi-GW development pipeline, they’re building out a technically robust team to deliver their vision of a net-zero future. This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading organisation at the heart of the energy transition where your input will directly shape the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.

The Role

You’ll be responsible for leading the electrical engineering aspects of the company’s grid-connected assets—managing design, grid compliance, and delivery from development through to commissioning. You’ll collaborate closely with internal teams, DNOs/NGESO, and third-party contractors to ensure safe, efficient, and future-proofed solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design across HV/MV/LV for solar PV and BESS projects.
  • Oversee grid connection applications and liaise with DNOs, NGESO, and ICPs.
  • Manage external consultants and review technical drawings/specs.
  • Conduct power system studies (load flow, fault level, protection coordination).
  • Support procurement of HV equipment and EPC packages.
  • Provide technical input during construction, testing, and commissioning phases.

About You

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical or Power Engineering.
  • 6–10+ years' experience in power systems, grid engineering, or renewables.
  • Deep knowledge of UK grid codes (G99, G100), BS/IEC standards, HV design principles.
  • Proficiency with power system modelling tools (e.g. DIgSILENT, ETAP, PSCAD).
  • Experience working on large-scale solar or storage projects.
  • Excellent communicator with experience managing stakeholders.

What’s On Offer

  • Annual performance bonus + long-term incentive plan.
  • Career progression in a high-growth, impact-driven organisation.
  • Exposure to major infrastructure projects across the UK energy market.
