We are working with an established clean energy infrastructure business delivering utility-scale solar and battery storage projects across the UK and wider European markets. The role sits within the Operations & Maintenance division and supports the operational performance of battery energy storage assets through planned maintenance, fault finding and high-voltage operations. This position exists to maintain asset availability, ensure safe operation of HV infrastructure and resolve both electrical and SCADA-related faults across operational BESS sites. The BESS Technician will play a direct role in minimising downtime, supporting grid compliance and maintaining the responsiveness of storage assets connected to the UK electricity network.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance across BESS sites, including fault response and equipment replacement.
  • Perform HV switching, testing and fault finding across transformers, switchgear and associated electrical infrastructure.
  • Diagnose and resolve SCADA, PLC and communications issues to maintain site connectivity and operational performance.
  • Support grid compliance activities and ensure all work is completed in line with HV safety procedures and regulations.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Electrical Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND or equivalent City & Guilds.
  • Experience within utility-scale BESS, Solar PV or related HV infrastructure environments.
  • HV Authorisation or demonstrable capability to progress toward SAP status.
  • Strong understanding of SCADA systems, industrial communications and fault diagnostics.
  • Ability to work independently within field-based operational environments while maintaining high safety standards.
