Our client is a UK flexible generation and energy storage platform, and it's looking for a Head of Engineering to take ownership of the technical performance, safety and integrity of its operational assets. The role exists to give that operational base strong engineering leadership as the business scales, covering everything from asset lifecycle planning to continuous improvement across the fleet. You'd carry real technical authority, setting the standards that project teams and asset managers work to.
The Company
Our client operates flexible generation and storage assets that help balance a UK grid leaning more heavily on renewables each year, and it's growing its operational base as new projects come online. Engineering sits close to the wider business here rather than working in a silo, and there's a genuine appetite for adopting new technology and process improvement rather than sticking with how things have always been done.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a multidisciplinary engineering team, and represent the function at senior leadership level.
- Own the technical integrity, availability and performance of the operational asset base, driving reliability-centred maintenance and root cause analysis.
- Provide technical leadership through the design, commissioning and handover of new assets, acting as technical authority on engineering standards and governance.
- Champion a strong safety and compliance culture, ensuring adherence to relevant regulatory, environmental and grid codes.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree qualified in electrical, mechanical or energy engineering (or a related discipline); Chartered status is a plus.
- Senior engineering leadership experience within energy, utilities or power generation.
- Strong technical knowledge of energy assets, including storage and flexible thermal generation.
- Experience across the design, commissioning, operation and maintenance of energy infrastructure, with a solid grasp of safety regulation and asset lifecycle management.
- Strong commercial awareness, with experience interfacing with developers, OEMs and contractors.
Benefits
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Flexible working arrangements.
- Genuine investment in professional development and progression.
- The chance to shape engineering practice inside a fast-scaling operational business.
Mint Selection is committed to inclusive hiring and equal opportunities. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are focused on building diverse teams that reflect the global energy transition.
