Construction Manager in Taunton

Taunton Full-Time On-site
M

Our client develops, owns and operates grid-scale battery storage and generation assets across the UK. They are hiring a Construction Manager to lead delivery of a battery energy storage (BESS) project in South West England. Because they act as their own principal contractor, the person on site carries the responsibility that would normally sit with a contractor. You would be the most senior presence on site for the asset owner, from securing the site through to commissioning.

The Company

Our client is a lean UK grid balancing business with a pipeline of further projects across England. Decisions are made close to site, and people are given real autonomy and room to progress quickly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the safe, timely delivery of site construction, installation, test and commissioning.
  • Oversee contractors from site security and enabling works through foundations to completion, inspecting works and managing packages on site.
  • Review programme, labour and risk to keep work on track, and report progress to the project leadership team.
  • Uphold health and safety standards throughout and provide technical input as the project develops.

Experience & Qualifications

  • Construction management experience on energy or power projects (solar, wind, hydro, storage, biomass, or transmission and distribution).
  • Experience managing Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contractors, Independent Connection Providers (ICPs) and Distribution Network Operators (DNOs), plus teams of sub-contractors and third parties.
  • Delivery on sites valued at Β£10m or more.
  • A background as a Construction Manager or Senior Construction Manager, ideally in electrical or civil works.
  • Sound working knowledge of construction management processes, and the communication skills to motivate site teams.
  • Competitive package, with salary to be discussed.
  • Autonomy and significant responsibility on site.
  • Accelerated progression in a lean organisation.
  • A pipeline of further large-scale storage projects across England.

Mint Selection is committed to inclusive hiring and equal opportunities. We welcome applications from all backgrounds and are focused on building diverse teams that reflect the global energy transition.
