Mint Selection are working with a leading renewable energy developer seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee construction and delivery of a utility-scale solar PV project in Leeds. This role is suited to a hands-on Site Manager with a strong background in solar farms or renewable generation projects, capable of supervising day-to-day site activities and coordinating third-party contractors from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
Scope of Work
- Manage day-to-day on-site construction activities from mobilisation to commissioning and final handover, ensuring compliance with HSE, quality, and programme requirements.
- Supervise and coordinate EPC contractors, subcontractors, and specialist suppliers across civil, mechanical, and electrical works.
- Oversee installation of solar PV arrays, mounting structures, DC cabling, inverters, substations, and associated grid connection infrastructure.
- Ensure all works are carried out in accordance with CDM Regulations, RAMS, and company procedures.
- Monitor site progress against programme and report delays, risks, and issues to the Project Manager.
- Implement and maintain site safety systems, permits to work, and toolbox talks, promoting a strong safety culture.
- Liaise with the client’s Project Manager, engineers, DNO representatives, inspectors, and local authorities.
- Conduct site inspections, quality checks, and snagging processes to ensure compliance with specifications and standards.
- Assist with commissioning activities, energisation, and testing prior to commercial operation.
- Maintain accurate site records including daily reports, progress tracking, and materials/logistics coordination.
- Identify construction risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure safe and efficient project delivery.
Requirements
- Proven experience working on renewable energy projects (solar PV, wind, or battery storage). Applications from candidates without renewable project experience will not be considered.
- Experience delivering utility-scale solar PV projects preferred.
- Strong understanding of solar farm construction including civils, mounting systems, DC installation, and AC/grid connection works.
- Experience supervising subcontractors and managing multiple trades on site.
- Familiarity with NEC contracts and construction documentation (RAMS, permits, ITPs).
- Experience liaising with DNOs, ICPs, and commissioning engineers.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- SMSTS essential; First Aid and CSCS Manager/Supervisor card preferred.
- Strong understanding of CDM Regulations and site HSE management.
Contract: 6-month contract (outside IR35)
Working Pattern: Full-time on site, 5 days per week
