Mint Selection are working with a contractor delivering works on an operational industrial/energy facility and are seeking an experienced Senior Site Manager to oversee heavy civil engineering and structural steel installation packages. This role is suited to a hands-on Site Manager with a background in heavy civils and steel structure installation, capable of managing site activities on a live site and coordinating subcontractors through construction and installation phases.
Scope of Work
- Manage day-to-day on-site construction activities ensuring compliance with HSE, quality, and programme requirements
- Supervise and coordinate subcontractors carrying out groundworks, reinforced concrete works, foundations and structural steel installation
- Oversee structural steel erection activities and associated lifting operations (cranes/HIAB) in line with approved lift plans and RAMS
- Ensure all activities comply with CDM Regulations, Permit to Work systems, and company procedures on a live operational site
- Monitor progress against programme and report delays, risks, and site issues to the Project/Construction Manager
- Implement and maintain site safety procedures including inductions, toolbox talks, and inspections
- Liaise with the client, engineers, and stakeholders to coordinate works and resolve technical queries
- Conduct site inspections and quality checks to ensure works meet drawings, tolerances and specifications
- Maintain accurate site documentation including daily reports, progress tracking, and site records
- Coordinate deliveries, logistics, heavy plant and work sequencing
- Identify construction risks and implement mitigation measures to ensure safe and efficient project delivery
- Provide client-facing reporting including progress updates and presentations where required
Requirements
- Demonstrable experience as a Site Manager on heavy civils and structural steel projects (industrial, infrastructure, utilities, substations or process plant environments)
- Experience managing reinforced concrete foundations and structural steel erection
- Experience overseeing lifting operations and working to lift plans
- Experience supervising multiple subcontract trades
- Strong understanding of RAMS, permits and working on live/operational sites
- SMSTS certification
- CSCS Manager/Supervisor card
- First Aid qualification
- Good communication and reporting skills
Contract: 12-month contract (outside IR35)
Working Pattern: Full-time on site, 5 days per week, 10 Hour Days
