Our client is a renewable energy developer building out a substantial pipeline of solar and battery storage projects across the UK, and they are looking for a Senior Development Manager to take schemes from origination through to shovel-ready.
The role exists because the pipeline now includes utility-scale and NSIP-scale projects that need senior, end-to-end ownership.
You would carry projects through land, planning, grid and consenting, and own the decisions that get them built.
The Company
Our client is a solar and battery storage developer moving towards an IPP model, so the projects you develop are ones the business intends to own and operate for the long term, not simply sell on.
They foster a collaborative and inclusive environment, with a real focus on professional development and knowledge-sharing as the team scales.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead development of solar and battery storage projects from site identification through to consent and financial close.
- Manage the full consenting process, including NSIP/DCO schemes, coordinating planning, environmental and technical consultants.
- Secure and manage land and grid connection agreements, keeping projects on programme and budget.
- Represent projects to landowners, communities, local authorities and internal investment committees.
Experience & Qualifications
- Proven track record developing renewable energy projects (solar, BESS or wind) in the UK.
- Strong working knowledge of the UK planning system, ideally including NSIP/DCO or other large-scale consenting.
- Commercial grasp of land, grid and the drivers of project value and risk.
- Experience managing multiple live projects and external consultants at once.
- Confident communicating with senior stakeholders and investment decision-makers.
- Competitive salary with performance-related bonus.
- Hybrid working (3 days in) with flexibility around the London office.
- Genuine investment in professional development as the business grows.
- Pension and enhanced holiday allowance.
- The opportunity to shape a growing pipeline at a developer transitioning to an IPP.
