Mint Selection are partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced HV Project Manager to join them on a 12-month renewable contract.
Scope of Work
- Take full responsibility for the delivery of High Voltage (HV) infrastructure projects, including substations, transmission, and grid connection works from mobilisation through to commissioning and handover.
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary teams, including Site Managers, Engineers, Supervisors, and subcontractors across civil, mechanical, and electrical workstreams.
- Manage the overall project programme, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with technical specifications and contractual requirements.
- Oversee all site activities, including earthworks, foundations, cable installation, HV equipment installation, substations, and grid connection interfaces.
- Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and CDM Regulations, promoting a strong safety culture across all phases of the project.
- Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, including clients, consultants, suppliers, DNOs, and grid operators.
- Monitor and report on project progress, risks, and performance, providing regular updates to senior management and key stakeholders.
- Manage interfaces between civil, mechanical, and electrical disciplines to ensure efficient sequencing and integration of works.
- Review and approve method statements, risk assessments, and technical documentation.
- Oversee quality assurance processes, inspections, and testing to ensure compliance with design and regulatory standards.
- Manage procurement activities, logistics, and delivery schedules for HV equipment and materials.
- Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks, delays, and non-conformances.
- Lead project meetings, progress reviews, and coordination workshops.
- Ensure successful project close-out, including commissioning support, documentation, and final handover.
Experience to be Considered
- Proven experience as a Project Manager delivering High Voltage (HV), power, or infrastructure projects — ideally including substations, grid connections, or transmission systems.
- Strong understanding of civil, mechanical, and electrical construction activities and how they interface on complex HV projects.
- Demonstrated experience managing the full project lifecycle from construction through to commissioning and handover.
- Experience managing large-scale subcontractor packages and multidisciplinary delivery teams.
- Strong knowledge of HSEQ standards, CDM Regulations, and safe systems of work within HV environments.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to effectively manage programme, cost, risk, and quality in a fast-paced project environment.
- Proactive, solution-oriented approach with strong organisational and decision-making capabilities.
