Our client is a UK solar and battery storage developer moving into ownership and operation, shifting from building projects to sell towards holding them as an IPP. That changes what land means to them. It's no longer something to secure and pass on, it's an asset they'll manage for decades. They're hiring a Land Manager to look after the land bank sitting under that portfolio and keep it sound as projects move from planning into construction and long-term operation.
The Company
A developer building out a utility-scale solar and storage portfolio in the UK and transitioning into an IPP. The team is lean and multidisciplinary, so land sits close to grid, planning, development and asset management. You'd own the land bank end to end and have a direct hand in protecting the value of what gets built.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the existing land bank: options, leases and agreements across the portfolio, handling renewals, variations, rent reviews and extensions.
- Own landowner relationships across the portfolio, keeping them strong as projects move from consent through construction into operation.
- Track and discharge land obligations, access, easements and wayleaves through the full asset lifecycle.
- Work with grid, planning, development and asset teams so land supports projects long after financial close.
Experience & Qualifications
- Track record managing land agreements for renewable energy, or comparable infrastructure, in the UK.
- Solid grasp of UK land agreements: options, leases, easements, wayleaves, rent reviews and variations.
- Relationship skills that hold up over years, not just to signing, since these sites are held for the long term.
- A rural surveying, land agency or RICS background is useful, though not essential if the land management experience is there.
- Awareness of how planning, grid and asset operation place ongoing demands on land.
- Competitive salary with 25% bonus.
- Remote with office attendance 1 day/month, with travel to site as the portfolio needs it.
