Mint Selection are partnered with one of the UK's leading renewables IPPs that are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join our client's Engineering team. Working alongside a multi-disciplinary team of engineers, you would be responsible for design, development and delivery across a portfolio of BESS and FlexGen assets and associated substations (up to 400kV). You’ll have exposure to the full lifecycle from late-stage development through to energisation, and benefit from an autonomous working environment where you’ll act as both the Client and the Principal Contractor.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as one of the company's electrical technical authorities across the development, design, construction, commissioning and operation of BESS and flexible generation projects.
- Lead and coordinate electrical engineering activities, ensuring effective management of interfaces between consultants, suppliers, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Perform the role of electrical owner's engineer, reviewing and approving electrical designs, calculations, studies and technical submissions to ensure compliance with project requirements, grid connection obligations and applicable standards.
- Provide technical leadership for grid connection activities, including oversight of power system studies, protection coordination, earthing design, fault level assessments, harmonic studies and network compliance requirements.
- Develop and maintain electrical engineering standards, specifications and design criteria, ensuring consistency, quality and best practice across the project portfolio.
- Manage design governance processes, including design reviews, technical risk management, design change control and resolution of engineering issues throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support procurement and contractor management activities through technical specification development, tender evaluations, supplier assessments and equipment selection.
- Provide technical support during construction, energisation and commissioning activities, including site inspections, technical query resolution and acceptance of electrical systems.
- Represent the company in technical engagements with network operators, contractors, equipment suppliers, consultants, investors and other key stakeholders.
- Support the Engineering Director in the development of future projects, technology assessments, technical due diligence activities and continuous improvement of engineering processes.
What We're Looking For
- 10+ years experience in Electrical Engineering for utility-scale energy projects.
- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Deep knowledge in design and construction of power and energy projects.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Chartered status (CEng).
