Mint Selection is partnered with one of the UK’s interconnectors, operating a 1 GW link between the UK and France. Our client is seeking an Engineering Director to lead a multidisciplinary technical team, drive cross-functional performance, manage interfaces with stakeholders, and ensure the safe and successful operation of a nationally significant business.
Role Summary
Reporting to the CEO, the Engineering Director will be responsible for technical governance, asset management capability, and the development of HVDC cable systems and converter station infrastructure. As a member of the senior leadership team (SLT), the Engineering Director will play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making, cross-functional leadership, and alignment of technical activities with business and regulatory objectives. It is an exciting opportunity to work on critical infrastructure which will contribute towards the UK’s energy security, grid stability, and the net-zero transition.
Requirements / Competencies
- 15+ years’ experience in the energy or transmission sector, with strong knowledge of HVDC systems, converters, grid codes, and transmission interface requirements.
- Proven leadership of engineering or technical teams on major infrastructure projects or operational asset management.
- Commercial understanding of engineering contracts, OEM agreements, and technical dispute resolution.
- Knowledge of UK and European regulatory frameworks for interconnectors and transmission systems is desired.
- Degree in Electrical or Power Engineering (or equivalent).
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status preferred.
