Mint Selection are working with a well-backed IPP delivering a major pumped storage hydro project in Scotland. They are seeking an experienced Grid Connections Project Manager on either a permanent or contract basis to support the delivery of transmission-level grid infrastructure and associated connection activities. This role will focus on managing the end-to-end interface between the developer and SSE, ensuring all grid connection activities progress in line with programme requirements through development, delivery and energisation phases. The successful candidate will also support the delivery of developer-owned substation infrastructure alongside EPC contractors and the wider project team.

Scope of Work

  • Manage the end-to-end grid connection interface between the developer and SSE
  • Coordinate all connection-related activities across development, design, delivery and energisation phases
  • Act as the primary point of contact between grid teams, EPC contractors, consultants and project stakeholders
  • Oversee delivery of developer-owned substation infrastructure and associated transmission connection works
  • Review and challenge connection programmes, scopes of work and delivery timelines with SSE and third parties
  • Support technical and commercial coordination across transmission infrastructure packages
  • Monitor project risks, interfaces and dependencies relating to grid connection activities
  • Coordinate engineering, operational and commissioning interfaces before and during construction phases
  • Support programme reporting, stakeholder management and escalation of key delivery risks
  • Ensure compliance with relevant transmission, safety and grid connection standards

Experience to be Considered

  • Proven experience as a Project Manager or Grid Connections Manager within energy infrastructure or transmission projects
  • Strong experience managing interfaces with National Grid, SSE or major transmission network operators
  • Experience delivering transmission-level infrastructure projects (275kV / 400kV essential)
  • Background working for an EPC, principal contractor or major infrastructure delivery business
  • Experience delivering substation schemes including bay extensions, transformer schemes or wider transmission infrastructure
  • Strong understanding of grid connection processes, transmission delivery and energisation activities
  • Experience operating within complex, schedule-driven infrastructure environments
  • Delivery-focused mindset with strong stakeholder management and problem-solving capability
