Mint Selection are partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Civil Supervisor for an immediate start on a 12-month renewable contract based in Exeter.

Scope of Work

  • Supervise and manage daily site activities for all civil and structural works on the BESS project, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, access roads, ducting, fencing, and compound construction.
  • Carry out regular inspections of works on site, ensuring all activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
  • Take ownership of QA/QC processes, including inspection, verification, and formal sign-off of completed works, ensuring compliance with Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
  • Monitor, inspect, and check contractor and subcontractor works, ensuring workmanship meets project requirements and any defects are identified and rectified promptly.
  • Manage and coordinate civil work packages, tracking progress, identifying risks, and ensuring delivery in line with programme milestones and contractual requirements.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and CDM Regulations across all site activities.
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with detailed progress reporting, quality assurance documentation, and coordination with electrical, mechanical, and commissioning teams.
  • Lead daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe systems of work and a strong safety culture.
  • Review and maintain accurate site records, including inspection reports, QA/QC documentation, permits, and test certifications, ensuring audit readiness.
  • Liaise with suppliers, delivery teams, and subcontractors to manage materials, logistics, and sequencing of works.
  • Identify, raise, and track non-conformances (NCRs), ensuring timely close-out and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Support project handover by ensuring all civil works are fully inspected, signed off, and documented, including as-built records and quality dossiers.

Experience to be Considered

  • Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor or Civil Foreman on renewable energy, substation, or infrastructure projects ideally BESS.
  • Demonstrable experience in inspecting works, QA/QC, and signing off civil activities, including familiarity with ITPs, check sheets, and quality documentation.
  • Strong ability to inspect, review, and verify contractor works, ensuring compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Experience managing discrete work packages, with responsibility for programme delivery, coordination, and quality outcomes.
  • Solid technical knowledge of civil construction methods, including foundations, concrete works, drainage, ducting, and cable route preparation.
  • Understanding of BESS site layouts and interfaces with electrical and mechanical installations.
  • Experience supervising subcontractors and multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-paced construction environment.
  • Strong knowledge of HSEQ procedures, with a proactive approach to safety and quality management.
  • Effective communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain a visible site presence and drive standards.
