Mint Selection are partnered with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced HVDC Project Manager to support the delivery of a major transmission infrastructure project across the UK.
Scope of Work
- Lead the delivery of HVDC transmission infrastructure packages from detailed design through construction, commissioning, energisation, and handover.
- Take full ownership of project execution, ensuring safe, efficient, and successful delivery in line with programme, budget, quality standards, and stakeholder requirements.
- Manage complex interfaces between HVDC converter stations, cable systems, substations, transmission infrastructure, and grid connection works.
- Coordinate engineering, construction, commissioning, commercial, and project controls teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Oversee contractor and supplier performance across multiple work packages, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and project milestones.
- Drive project governance, reporting, risk management, forecasting, change control, and decision-making processes.
- Ensure compliance with all Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) requirements, industry standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities with internal teams, consultants, contractors, transmission operators, and regulatory bodies.
- Manage project budgets, schedules, risks, opportunities, and resource requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Chair project meetings, progress reviews, and technical workshops to ensure alignment across all project functions.
- Support commissioning, testing, and energisation activities, ensuring all technical, operational, and quality requirements are achieved.
- Provide leadership and direction to multidisciplinary project teams, maintaining a strong focus on project objectives and successful delivery.
Experience to be Considered
- Proven experience operating as a Project Manager or Senior Project Manager on major HVDC transmission infrastructure projects.
- Strong working knowledge of HVDC converter stations, HVDC cable systems, grid connection infrastructure, and transmission networks.
- Previous experience delivering HVDC projects within transmission, offshore wind, interconnector, or large-scale power infrastructure environments is essential.
- Demonstrable understanding of HVDC technology, project interfaces, engineering challenges, commissioning requirements, and construction methodologies.
- Experience managing EPC, EPCI, NEC, FIDIC, or similar contract environments on major infrastructure projects.
- Strong background in managing multidisciplinary teams, contractors, consultants, and technical stakeholders.
- Excellent understanding of project controls, programme management, commercial management, risk management, and stakeholder engagement.
- Previous experience working with Transmission Owners, DNOs, Offshore Wind Developers, or Tier 1 Contractors would be highly advantageous.
- Degree qualified in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related discipline is preferred.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to drive performance and manage complex project interfaces.
Please note, candidates without previous HVDC project experience will not be considered for this position.
This is a long-term contract opportunity and falls outside IR35.
