A market-leading renewable energy provider is seeking a Lead Electrical Commissioning Engineer to join a major BESS project. This role will take ownership of on-site electrical commissioning activities, overseeing subcontractors responsible for unit commissioning and grid connection, ensuring all works are delivered safely and to the highest standard.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the electrical safety lead on site, ensuring full compliance with HSE requirements and permit-to-work systems
  • Manage electrical contractors through installation, testing, commissioning, start-up, and handover
  • Verify HV and LV systems against drawings, specifications, and relevant regulatory standards
  • Coordinate system walkdowns, inspections, and functional testing
  • Support integration of electrical systems into the wider commissioning programme
  • Oversee certification and handover using a completions management system (e.g. Wood GoC)

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Lead Electrical Commissioning role
  • Strong knowledge of HV/LV and industrial electrical systems
  • Familiarity with commissioning handover processes (ITRs, PWLs)
  • Recognised electrical apprenticeship
  • HNC/HND (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering
  • Comfortable working on site in a fast-paced commissioning environment
