Location – Exeter

Mint Selection are partnering with a leading organisation within the energy sector to recruit an experienced Civil Supervisor for an immediate start on a 12-month renewable contract based in Exeter.

Scope of Work

  • Supervise daily site activities for all civil and structural works on the BESS project, including earthworks, foundations, drainage, access roads, ducting, fencing, and compound construction.
  • Coordinate and oversee site operatives and subcontractors to ensure works are carried out safely, efficiently, and in line with drawings and specifications.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality (HSEQ) standards and CDM Regulations.
  • Support the Site Manager and Project Manager with progress reporting, quality checks, and coordination with other disciplines (electrical, mechanical, commissioning).
  • Conduct daily briefings, toolbox talks, and site inductions to maintain safe working practices.
  • Monitor site progress and workmanship, ensuring adherence to project schedules and quality requirements.
  • Complete and maintain site records, including daily diaries, permits, inspections, and test reports.
  • Liaise with suppliers, delivery teams, and subcontractors to manage material and equipment logistics on site.
  • Identify and report any risks, delays, or non-conformances to the Site Manager or Project Manager.
  • Support handover and as-built documentation by ensuring civil works are completed and verified to the required standards.

Experience to be Considered

  • Proven experience as a Civil Supervisor or Civil Foreman on renewable energy, substation, or infrastructure projects — ideally including Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) or Solar PV developments.
  • Strong working knowledge of civil construction techniques, including foundations, concrete works, drainage, ducting, and cable route preparation.
  • Understanding of BESS site layouts and interfaces with electrical and mechanical installations.
  • Experience in supervising multi-skilled site teams and subcontractors under tight programme requirements.
  • Sound knowledge of HSEQ procedures and safe systems of work.
  • Good communication, organisational, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to maintain a strong site presence and proactive approach.
