Role – Commissioning Engineer (BESS) – Contract
Location – Manchester + Site-Based
Mint Selection are working with a leading energy infrastructure developer delivering a 600MW Battery Energy Storage (BESS) project in Manchester. They are seeking an experienced Commissioning Engineer on a contract basis to support the delivery and energisation of this large-scale project.
This role will focus on the commissioning of HV electrical systems and battery storage infrastructure, working closely with EPC contractors, OEMs, and the wider project team to ensure safe and compliant energisation and handover.
- Execute commissioning activities across BESS and associated HV infrastructure (typically 33kV–132kV)
- Carry out pre-commissioning, functional testing, and energisation of electrical systems
- Review and implement commissioning procedures, method statements, and risk assessments
- Coordinate with OEMs (battery systems, inverters, SCADA) during testing and commissioning phases
- Identify, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues during commissioning
- Support project documentation including test records, reports, and handover documentation
Proven experience as a Commissioning Engineer within renewable energy, power generation or infrastructure.
Strong experience commissioning HV electrical systems (11kV–132kV).
Experience with BESS, substations, or grid connection projects.
Familiarity with UK grid compliance and commissioning standards.
HV Authorised Person (AP) or SAP (desirable, not essential).
Electrical Engineering background or equivalent experience.
This is a contract opportunity with a fixed start yet to be decided. Day rate negotiable depending on experience.
