Role – Senior Authorised Person (SAP) – Contract
Location – UK + Site-Based
Mint Selection are working with a leading energy infrastructure developer delivering utility-scale solar and co-located BESS projects across the UK. They are seeking an experienced Senior Authorised Person (SAP) on a contract basis to support HV operations, energisation, and grid connection activities. This role will focus on the safe control and operation of HV systems, working closely with EPC contractors, DNO/ICP engineers, and commissioning teams to ensure safe energisation, compliance, and system integrity across project phases.
Scope of Work
- Carry out HV switching operations including energisation, de-energisation and network reconfiguration
- Issue and control Permits to Work / Sanctions for Test
- Manage isolation, earthing and LOTO procedures as the responsible SAP
- Ensure safety from the system across HV infrastructure including GIS substations
- Review and approve RAMS, method statements, switching programmes and energisation plans
- Coordinate with DNO / ICP engineers, EPC commissioning teams, and BESS OEMs
- Support grid connection and compliance testing (G99, SCADA coordination, DERMS testing)
- Troubleshoot HV issues across protection systems, relays, switchgear and network interfaces
- Support commissioning activities including functional testing of intertrips, E-stops and protection systems
- Provide on-site support during key energisation phases and export readiness
Experience to be Considered
- Proven experience as a Senior Authorised Person (SAP) within renewable energy or power infrastructure
- Authorised to operate at 33kV (mandatory), with 66kV desirable and 132kV advantageous
- Strong experience working under UK DNO / ICP safety rules and HV procedures
- Experience on utility-scale solar and co-located BESS projects
- Familiarity with grid compliance, G99 processes, and SCADA coordination
- Strong understanding of HV systems including GIS substations, protection and control systems
- Experience working across energisation, commissioning and grid connection phases
- Electrical background with strong operational and safety focus
Certifications & Requirements
- Current SAP authorisation (33kV minimum)
- Recognised HV switching competency
- Experience operating under UK HV Safety Rules
- CSCS / ECS card (as applicable)
- HV medical and site compliance certifications
Desirable:
- AP15 / AP HV
- IOSH / SSSTS / NEBOSH
- OEM or GIS-specific training (e.g. SF₆ switchgear)
- Experience with emergency procedures in HV environments
