A friendly over-55s community, set within 40 acres of stunning grounds, is looking for a Sous Chef to join their catering team in Darlington. The Role:
- Support the Head Chef in cooking and preparing high quality cuisine whilst creating new menu items and recipes for care services.
- Plan & direct food preparation across the kitchen, delegating tasks and supervising Chef De Partie, Commis Chefs & Kitchen Assistants.
- Ensure food quality and excellent standards at all times.
- Support all company services, events and restaurant nights.
- Ensure the kitchen meets all health & safety regulations & food hygiene practices, adhering to HACCP - Food Safety, 5* Hygiene, Cleanliness, Health, Storage.
- Follow Safe Food Better Business (SFBB) and Care Quality Commission (CQC) guidelines.
- Assist with food stock inventory & ordering - liaise regularly with suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with daily & periodic cleaning schedules and temperature checks.
Ideal Sous Chef Profile:
- Sous chef background in hotels/restaurants alongside contract catering.
- Team player.
- Work within a care setting environment.
- Have 5* hygiene standards.
- Ability to work weekends.
- Proud to serve home-made food using locally sourced ingredients - providing mouth-watering menus across all care services.
- Happy to undertake an enhanced DBS check.
