Mint Payments is a travel-specialist payments business, built by travel people for the travel industry.

We help retail travel agents, OTAs, TMCs, DMCs and tour operators simplify operations, safeguard revenue and accelerate settlements, with card acceptance and revenue protection solutions designed around real travel workflows rather than adapted from generic retail payments.

Mint is trusted by over 2,500 travel businesses worldwide and partners with leading travel networks and trade bodies, including The Travel Network Group, Travel Trust Association, Worldchoice and ABTA.

Part of a global group headquartered in Sydney, the UK business is a high-growth, entrepreneurial team based in central London, backed by an established platform and a strong reputation in the travel payments space.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Account Executive is a new-business sales role responsible for winning card acceptance customers across the UK travel market — retail travel agents, OTAs, tour operators, DMCs and smaller TMCs.

You will build and work your own pipeline, respond to and convert leads introduced through Mint's partnership network, and manage each opportunity through a structured sales cycle to close.

This is a high-activity, target-driven role suited to a sales professional who is equally comfortable prospecting from scratch and following a disciplined, methodology-led sales process.

You will work closely with the Managing Director and the wider UK sales team, sharing best practice while owning your own number.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Self-generate a qualified pipeline of new business opportunities across UK travel-specialist merchants, through proactive outbound prospecting (calling, email, Linked In, networking and industry events).
  • Provide an excellent standard of service to leads referred by Mint's partnership network, responding promptly and professionally to convert warm introductions into qualified pipeline.
  • Qualify prospects into the pipeline using a consistent methodology (e. g. SPICED or MEDDPICC), accurately capturing pain, impact, decision process and next steps in Hub Spot.
  • Manage the end-to-end sales cycle from discovery and demo through proposal, negotiation and close, tailoring the pitch to each merchant's payment flows and travel-sector context.
  • Consistently deliver against monthly and quarterly new business targets for merchant acquisition and transaction volume (TTV).
  • Maintain an accurate, up-to-date forecast on a commit and upside basis, and report this reliably to the Managing Director.
  • Support the preparation and delivery of Quarterly Business Reviews for key accounts and partners, working alongside senior colleagues.
  • Keep CRM records (Hub Spot) accurate and current — deal stages, activities, contacts and next steps — to support clean pipeline reporting.
  • Work closely with Onboarding, Risk/Compliance and Customer Success to ensure a smooth, well-briefed handover of every closed deal.
  • Build and maintain strong product knowledge of Mint's card acceptance and revenue protection solutions, and a working understanding of the UK travel payments landscape (e. g.

ATOL, Section 75, merchant risk).

  • Feed market and competitor insight back to the Managing Director and wider team to help shape go-to-market approach.
  • COMPETENCIES
  • New business development — able to self-generate and progress a pipeline from a standing start.
  • Consultative selling — asks good questions, understands merchant pain points before pitching solutions.
  • Working knowledge of a structured sales methodology (SPICED, MEDDPICC or equivalent), applied consistently in real deals.
  • Sound opportunity qualification and deal hygiene — knows when a deal is real, and when it isn't.
  • Confident presenter and demo-runner, able to flex message for different stakeholder types.
  • Basic-to-intermediate negotiation skills, with a track record of closing transactional deals.
  • Accurate forecasting discipline — commit vs. upside, and comfortable being held to it.
  • Disciplined CRM user — treats data hygiene as part of the job, not an afterthought.
  • Behavioural
  • Self-starter with strong personal activity management and resilience against rejection.
  • Equally effective working independently and as part of a small, close-knit team.
  • Clear, confident communicator across phone, video and in person.
  • Coachable — actively seeks and applies feedback to improve conversion and deal quality.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-moving, still-scaling business where processes are being built as you go.
  • Genuine curiosity about the travel industry and how merchants actually operate.

EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • 1–3 years' B2B sales experience, ideally in payments, fintech, Saa S or another solution-sales environment.
  • Demonstrable track record of self-generating pipeline and achieving or exceeding activity/revenue targets.
  • Exposure to a structured sales methodology such as SPICED or MEDDPICC (formal training not essential, but working familiarity is).
  • Comfortable using a CRM (Hub Spot experience an advantage) to manage pipeline and reporting.
  • Interest in, or prior exposure to, the UK travel industry (retail agents, OTAs, tour operators, TMCs/DMCs) is a strong advantage but not essential.
  • Numerate and comfortable discussing commercial terms, pricing and basic payments concepts (interchange, settlement, chargebacks).
  • WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Consistently meets or exceeds monthly/quarterly new business and TTV targets.
  • Builds a healthy, well-qualified pipeline that is not overly reliant on partnership-referred leads.
  • Forecasts accurately — commit numbers land, upside is genuinely upside.
  • Runs a tight, professional sales process that reflects well on Mint with every prospect, win or lose.
  • Progresses towards taking on larger, more complex opportunities and, over time, a Senior Account Executive path.
  • LOCATION & WORKING ARRANGEMENTS
  • Hybrid role based from Mint's London office at Cargoworks, 1-2 Hatfields, London SE1 9PG.
  • Expectation of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote, with flexibility around client meetings and travel-industry events.
  • Reports directly to the Managing Director, UK.
  • Base salary plus uncapped commission structure (details provided at offer stage).

Mint is an equal opportunity employer and values diversity.
