As an RN Senior ‑ Evening Officer of the Day (OD), you will provide clinical assistance and oversight to the nursing staff in the delivery of quality care to the residents of the Minnesota Veterans Home-Preston. You will assist in completing clinical assessments required by our regulatory agencies, demonstrate best practice clinical standards, and provide guidelines to meet the physical and psychosocial needs of the residents. Provide direction to the nursing staff in the delivery of quality care and ensure scheduling and operational needs of the home are met. You will work as a member of the nursing department leadership team, provide guidance and direction regarding the delivery of clinical services, be a resource for nursing staff, and the person in‑charge in the building when other leaders are not present.

This position is designated as part‑time and primarily evening shift. The work schedule will include at least 48 hours per 2‑week pay period and may include additional work hours based on business needs. The position is initially eligible for partial employer contribution towards health and dental insurance benefits.

Minimum Qualifications

• Licensed in Minnesota as a Registered Nurse with no restrictions and in good standing
• Two years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a skilled nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care
• Experience with clinical documentation and writing investigative reports
• Knowledge of federal and state regulations related to skilled nursing and state survey
• Effective communication skills
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification through the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross or ability to be certified by date of hire

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience using technology, equipment, devices, and/or other facilitation tools related to nursing education/training
• Three (3) or more years of experience as a Registered Nurse in a skilled nursing facility with primary responsibility for coordinating and assessing plan of care
• Working knowledge of gerontology and the ability to apply it effectively in resident care situations
• Experience with Medicare requirements and documentation
• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Nursing or related degree program
• Experience leading nursing staff

• A Minnesota Department of Human Services (DHS) background check may be conducted on the top finalist(s) for the position. When conducted, a finalist must pass the DHS background check.
• A Tuberculosis (Mantoux) screening (or chest x‑ray) is required prior to employment.
