We are seeking a creative senior product designer to join our innovative in-house product design team. Minky is a market leading brand of laundry and cleaning products supplying FMCG retail with branded and private label products. We have built an outstanding reputation for offering a wide range of innovative, market focused products, constantly evolving our product range and breaking new ground. We are currently looking to increase our design capacity to allow us to push the brand into new market areas and continue to develop our current product ranges.
The successful candidate will be working with the design team to develop new products under the Minky brand, taking them from initial concepts right through to manufacture.
Main Responsibilities:- Development of new products from concept through to manufacture
- Support the manufacturing sites with production initiation
- Work with category managers to establish product development opportunities
- Creative problem solving
- Support junior designer
- Product and category research
- Concept development
- Tooling development for injection moulding
- CAD concept modelling
- Production ready CAD models for plastic and metal parts
- GA and part drawings
- Generating visuals for sales and marketing teams
- Designing to target costs
- Prototyping and testing concepts
- Project documentation to ISO standards
- Technical support for sales and marketing teams
- Degree educated in Product or Industrial Design (or similar discipline)
- Ideally a minimum of five years of industry experience
- Knowledge of SolidWorks software is essential
- Proven track record of taking products from concept through to manufacture
- Experience designing plastic, metal, textile and electrical components for mass production
- Self-motivated and methodical with the ability to work both independently and within a team, on multiple projects simultaneously
- Experience in designing consumer goods across a range of categories
- Proficient across Adobe Creative Suite and Microsoft Office
- An excellent eye for detail
