The predicted salary is between 27776 - 30354 £ per year.

All staff have a responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. The post holder must undertake the appropriate level of training and is responsible for ensuring that they understand and work within the safeguarding policies of the organisation.

This role involves working in a professional industrial kitchen environment, overseeing offenders to prepare and cook quality nutritional meals for the entire prison. You will also support offenders in developing skills towards qualifications to increase employment prospects and reduce reoffending.

Hours & Salary

You will work a 37‑hour week across shift patterns, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays. A 20% unsocial hours payment will be added to basic pay if you work these hours. Band 4 salary: £41,328 (band maximum £41,328 inclusive of unsocial hours allowance).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering or equivalent
  • Food hygiene certificate at Level 2
  • Relevant vocational qualification at Level 3 or formal qualifications such as City and Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3
  • Familiarity with health, safety and hygiene regulations for working in a kitchen
  • Competency in an industrial kitchen environment
  • Team leadership experience
  • Confidence speaking in English

Training & Development

Refresher training in food safety (HACCP) must be completed every three years. Apprenticeships and further training are available.
