Overview

This is an operational role directly supervising work groups of offenders serving a community sentence. This may include driving service vehicles to transport people or equipment. The post holder will be responsible for all work site supervision tasks and will work with service users to ensure that all tasks are carried out to the best of their ability. This will include working alongside people to demonstrate good practice as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and lead small teams to complete unpaid work hours as part of Community Payback.
  • Motivate offenders to complete a range of manual tasks such as clearing overgrowth, restoring community facilities, planting trees, litter picking, graffiti removal and other tasks to pay back for the harm caused.
  • Drive service vehicles to transport people or equipment as required.
  • Ensure tasks are carried out to the required standard; demonstrate good practice where necessary.
  • Work with service users to support their journey and contribute to making the community a better place.
  • Respect and follow safeguarding, health and safety, and probation service guidelines in all duties.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Full UK Manual Driving Licence is a mandatory technical requirement to apply for this role; applications from candidates holding only an automatic driving licence cannot be considered.
  • DBS Enhanced clearance is required.
  • Right to work in the UK is required.

Working Pattern, Location & Schedule

Location: Winsford, North West. Working Pattern: Part Time. The role may require weekend work and evenings as part of the normal pattern; there is a note that weekend working may attract a higher rate for weekend days.

Typical day involves supervising groups for up to 7 hours and may include use of 7-day Community Payback projects; post holders may be asked to cover some evenings and will be paid according to weekend working rules.

Salary & Benefits (selected)

Salary: Β£28,064 – Β£33,549 (Pro-rata).

The Civil Service offers pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF) where eligible, with annual pay band increases in line with Civil Service pay guidance.
