This Probation Services Officer (PSO) role is based at Weston Approved Premises in Weymouth, Dorset. The position is not suitable for hybrid working and requires staff to be on site 24 hours a day to supervise high‑risk offenders after release from prison.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of offenders before and after sentence, including assessment, sentence implementation, offender management, and report production.
- Provide case‑management support using established service procedures and practice directions to underpin professional judgement.
- Assess and manage risk, provide information and outcomes to courts, and coordinate with other agencies across the justice system.
- Support offenders by providing practical advice about housing, employment, and other life‑skills, and by offering emotional and pragmatic support.
- Produce accurate and clear written reports within tight deadlines to assist public protection and offender rehabilitation.
Qualifications
