Overview

Our Team Leaders play a critical role in helping deliver justice, this role will enable you to demonstrate and develop your leadership skills. You are responsible for making sure your team deliver excellent administrative support and customer service to service users, judiciary and management. Leading your team, you’ll focus on the team\'s area of work, making sure that work is prioritised and organised and your team fully skilled to meet objectives. As an effective Team Leader, you recognise the importance of the team\'s overall wellbeing and can motivate your team to succeed. You will contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets and provide statistical data for the management team and judiciary. Your keen eye for detail and desire for continuous improvement is key to your success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the team to deliver excellent administrative support and customer service to service users, judiciary and management.
  • Ensure the team prioritises and organises work, and is fully skilled to meet objectives.
  • Motivate team members, recognising overall wellbeing and driving successful performance.
  • Contribute to the delivery of operational, performance and service standard targets; provide statistical data for the management team and judiciary.
  • Monitor and analyse performance areas and trends; conduct ongoing reviews of procedures and work practices.
  • Recommend and implement improvements, navigate change and manage the implementation of new initiatives and legislation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Experience of working in an administrative role in a customer‑focused environment.
  • IT proficiency with the ability to learn and adapt to different technologies and software packages.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Ability to motivate and support your team to deliver excellent customer service.

Level of security checks required: DBS Basic.

Working hours & arrangements

Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday. This is a business‑critical role requiring full‑time hours only. The role is office‑based and provides HMCTS services to the public. The MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business need allows: all employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.

Staffing & Loan information

Employees are able to apply for Fixed‑Term Appointments (FTA) on promotion if advertised at a higher grade. Acceptance may be temporary and the employee will revert to substantive grade on return. Interviews are expected to begin 20th April 2026 (face to face at Bristol Crown Court).
