We are looking for a catering cook to work in a professional industrial kitchen within a prison setting. The role involves preparing and cooking quality, nutrition-focused meals for offenders, supporting their rehabilitation and learning opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Oversee offenders while they prepare and cook meals.
- Prepare and cook quality, nutritious meals for the entire prison.
- Support offenders in developing skills and working towards qualifications.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety and hygiene regulations.
- Maintain an efficient, safe kitchen environment.
Hours and Salary
- 37 hour week with shift patterns including times outside 7am-7pm Monday-Friday, weekends and public holidays.
- 20% unsocial hours payment added to basic pay (subject to working those hours).
- Band 4 salary minimum 41,328 GBP inclusive of unsocial hours allowance (same for maximum).
Qualifications and Experience
- Level 2 certificate in food production within hospitality and catering or equivalent.
- Food hygiene certificate at Level 2.
- Working towards a Level 3 vocational qualification or already hold formal qualifications such as City & Guilds 7061/7062 or NVQ Level 3.
- Familiar with current health, safety and hygiene regulations for kitchen work.
- Demonstrated competency and experience in an industrial kitchen environment.
- Team leadership experience.
- Confident spoken English.
Additional Requirements
- Must be 18 years or older (exception under Schedule 9 of the Equality Act 2010).
- Refresher HACCP training required every three years.
