Role Overview
Probation services officers help manage offenders before and after sentence, assess risks, liaise with courts and agencies, and support offenders with practical advice.
Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of medium- and low‑risk offenders before and after sentence.
- Assess and manage risks associated with each offender.
- Provide information and recommendations to courts.
- Work closely with agencies throughout the justice system.
- Support offenders with practical advice on housing, employment and other needs.
Qualifications
- Empathetic, patient and resilient personal qualities.
- Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties.
- Good written communication skills – able to produce clear and accurate reports within tight deadlines.
