About the Role

A Programme Facilitator in the Probation Service delivers Accredited Programmes and Structured Interventions to people on Community Orders or licence after release from prison. The role involves groupwork, one‑to‑one sessions, and the creation of a safe, structured environment that supports offenders to desist from crime and build pro‑social lives.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver accredited programmes and structured interventions, including group sessions and individual work, to probationers across a regional area.
  • Travel to various locations to deliver programmes, claiming travel expenses where applicable.
  • Monitor progress, risk and wellbeing; keep accurate records and share insights with relevant teams.
  • Work closely with courts, criminal justice agencies, probation staff and external stakeholders to support sentence management.
  • Provide workshops and briefings to probation staff and other external stakeholders.
  • Use pro‑social modelling to reinforce positive behaviours.
  • Work unsocial hours, including evenings, weekends and some Saturdays, with the corresponding additional pay.
  • Complete a six‑month probationary period, including assessment centre participation and training.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development and feedback cycles.

Qualifications

  • Right to work in the UK, including compliance with the June 2025 Skilled Worker visa rules.
  • Ability to pass DBS Enhanced security checks.
  • Experience in facilitating group and individual sessions is desirable.
  • Good communication, influencing and self‑development skills.
