Case Administrator works either Full Time or Part Time (0.5FTE). Our immediate vacancies are 1 x Part Time (0.5 FTE) at Queens Road Approved Premises, Hull. However, all appointable candidates from this campaign who cannot be offered immediate positions will be held on a merit list for 12 months. This will be used to fill future Case Administrator vacancies at the Approved Premises.

Approved Premises (AP) provide critical community-based service to accommodate and closely supervise high-risk offenders on release from prison, for the purposes of public protection. AP are staffed 24 hours per day, with staff enforcing an overnight curfew, and other monitoring and reporting requirements. Probation Services Officers lead on the key interventions and rehabilitative activities with the resident group, working regular hours Monday to Friday but also covering at weekends as required. The provision of suitable accommodation on release is a key factor in reducing reoffending and supporting transition into the community.

Please note: the Case Administrator role does not include any working from home. This is a mobile-grade role meaning you may be required to cover shifts at sites other than your home base. Any such arrangements will be made in accordance with policy.

If you are successful in the recruitment process and join the Probation Service, your starting salary will be £24,549, Pro-Rata. The Probation Service offers the opportunity for annual pay progression through a Competency Based Framework (CBF), which if eligible, will see your pay increase. CBF is designed to enable you to move up through the pay band range as your competence grows. New entrants are expected to join on the minimum of the pay band.

About the Recruitment Process: To apply to this role you will be required to complete a short application form and detail responses to Civil Service Behaviours and Experience based question. As part of this application, you will also be required to sit the Civil Service Judgement test (CSJT).

Case Administrators are required to work within a variety of settings. There may be opportunities for positions within Probation Delivery Units (PDU), Courts, Prisons, etc. depending on business requirements. These posts will be based in PDUs across the region.

Case administrators play an important role in the Probation Service, supporting probation staff to work with people on probation. As a case administrator, you’ll ensure:

  • all processes run efficiently
  • systems are maintained properly
  • probation information is collated and prepared for case files

You’ll use your strong communication skills to handle enquiries from colleagues, agencies and people on probation in a busy environment.

Additional Information: Where applicants provide multiple location preferences, reserve lists will be managed in accordance with location preference/s, as indicated in your application. The post is currently advertised without VISOR Vetting to enable appointment to take place as soon as possible, however, VISOR vetting will be required to be completed post offer.

Working Arrangements & Further Information: The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Standard full time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid.
