Role Overview: Our Operations Managers play a crucial role helping deliver justice and you will be accountable for day‑to‑day operations across the Lancashire Civil, Family and Tribunal Courts. We are seeking an experienced leader able to motivate remote teams, foster strong relationships with key stakeholders and ensure our services are customer‑focused and efficient. You will be responsible for the strategic oversight of all courts and act as the Civil Lead for all Cumbria and Lancashire Courts, supporting your Cluster Manager to meet operational needs and deliver cluster performance objectives. You will be at the forefront of organisational change, making a real difference in how service is delivered, working in a supportive environment with a focus on continuous improvement. Leading a team of Delivery Managers to provide a consistent and customer‑focused service, you’ll drive a collaborative culture across the cluster, ensure effective deployment of resources and manage an allocated budget to control delegated expenditure, ensuring efficiencies are made.

About You:

  • Resilient and positive leader who thrives on delivering effective and efficient services and enjoys working with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Able to work collaboratively with other Operations Managers in the cluster to manage conflicting demands and reprioritise local and regional goals where required.

Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience in a senior operations or management role, preferably within a complex, multi‑stakeholder environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a track record of leading teams through change.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to maintain relationships at all levels.
  • Experience in budget management and resource allocation.

Further Details: These operational roles are customer facing, requiring successful applicants to be office‑based to provide HMCTS services to the public. Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week. HMCTS welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns where they meet the demands of the role and business needs and are agreed prior to appointment. All applications for part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the MoJ’s Flexible Working policy. This is a business‑critical role requiring full‑time hours only (but would also consider job share).

Location: This role can be based at any of the following Lancashire sites, but regular travel across all sites will be expected:

  • Blackburn Family Court BB1 6DJ
  • Preston County Court PR1 2LL
  • Preston Family Court PR1 2PD
  • Blackpool County Court FY1 5RJ
  • Lancaster County Court LA1 1XZ

In addition, occasional travel to the following Cumbria sites will be required:

  • Carlisle Combined Court CA1 1DJ
  • West Cumbria Courthouse (Workington) CA14 4AS
  • Barrow‑in‑Furness County Court and Family Court LA14 5QX
