Salary: Starting salary £35,875 for a 39‑hour week (including 20% unsocial time).

Responsibilities
- Carry out a variety of roles throughout the day.
- Communicate and influence staff, inmates and visitors.
- Manage a quality service that meets safety and welfare standards.
- Make effective decisions in a high‑pressure environment.
- Provide caring and supportive interactions with inmates.
Qualifications
- Minimum age 18 at commencement of employment.
- Meet Civil Service nationality requirements.
- Pass a medical and fitness assessment.
- Meet the required eyesight standard in both eyes.
- Meet a suitable standard of hearing (without hearing aids).
- Tattoos are permitted if they are not offensive, discriminatory, violent or intimidating; facial tattoos are generally not acceptable unless for cultural, religious or medical reasons.
- For high security (Category A) prisons, must have been a UK resident for the last three years.
Pay
Initial training is 37 hours per week. After training you can choose to work 37, 39 or 41 hours per week, and your annual salary will reflect the chosen hours.
- 37 hours week = £33,746 per year
- 39 hours week = £35,875 per year
- 41 hours week = £38,003 per year
All salary figures include any additional allowances.
