Working at the direction of the Head of Operational Function, the post holder will be deployed to various roles to provide strategic support. The role involves supporting the Head of LDU Cluster in managing and leading within the National Probation Service (NPS) Local Delivery Unit (LDU). The post holder will represent the Head of LDU Cluster with external agencies and staff, adhering to policies regarding sensitive/confidential information. Participation in out-of-hours on-call rota may be required.

Responsibilities, Activities & Duties:

  1. Lead on operational issues such as caseload segmentation, Child Sexual Exploitation, Guns and Gangs, and Integrated Offender Management.
  2. Support the Head of Cluster with operational matters including Recall, High-Risk of Serious Harm Case Transfers, etc.
  3. Assist with staff management issues such as grievances, discipline, capability, and complaints.
  4. Oversee professional development and training needs analysis for cluster staff.
  5. Manage recruitment and induction processes for new employees.
  6. Lead performance and quality initiatives within the cluster.
  7. Coordinate audits and inspections.
  8. Support review processes and action plan delivery for cases like Domestic Homicides and Serious Further Reviews.
  9. Manage the Business Manager and administrative support functions.
  10. Represent NPS in local strategic partnerships and multi-agency arrangements like MAPPA, including chairing meetings.
  11. Make decisions and provide advice on offender management in the absence of the Head of LDU Cluster, including offender recalls.
  12. Handle complaints within the cluster and participate in resolution processes.
  13. Lead specific projects on divisional or cluster priorities, including Equality and Diversity, Reward and Recognition.
  14. Ensure compliance with Health and Safety legislation and oversee estate management.
  15. Model pro-social behaviour and uphold safeguarding duties for children and adults.
  16. Work within NPS and HMPPS values, with flexibility for hybrid working arrangements.
