Responsibilities
- Participate in the selection and induction of prisoners for the workshop/area of work, including health & safety, COSHH, machinery and tool usage training.
- Provide support and tailor learning & training to individual prisoner needs.
- Set work schedules and manage targets, quality standards and contractual delivery.
- Assess and evaluate prisoners' skills to national qualification standards.
- Supervise, maintain discipline and manage performance, motivation, appraisal and development of prisoners.
- Maintain communication via radio net and complete required forms (ACCT, VRIR, SIR, IEP reports).
- Conduct metal detector scans or rub‑down searches of prisoners attending and leaving workshops.
- Provide quality assurance against product specification, log attendance and approve prisoner's hours and wages.
- Carry out fabric and tool checks, maintain area security, log faults and undertake planned maintenance of machinery.
- Contribute to prisoner reports, parole and sentence planning, regime monitoring and training records.
- Contribute to health & safety risk assessments for the workshop and specialist areas.
- Request materials and estimate usage to meet work targets.
- Initiate product development reviews to maintain output levels and provide variety of work experiences.
- Participate in self‑audit and support Service Delivery Indicators (SDIs).
- Complete administration activities to support smooth running of the workshop.

- Ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence through medium of English.
Working Arrangements & Further Information
The MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business need allows. This role can only be worked in the UK.
