The Public Protection Casework Section (PPCS), within HMPPS, is responsible for the management of the parole process and the recall of offenders to custody. Casework Managers in PPCS handle the preparation and management of parole eligible cases referred to the Parole Board, taking decisions and providing relevant documents for requests to recall offenders released on licensed supervision and under Home Detention Curfew supervision and reviewing the ongoing detention of recalled offenders and referring cases to the Parole Board in line with the statutory requirement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the parole process and recall of offenders to custody.
  • Prepare and manage parole eligible cases referred to the Parole Board.
  • Take decisions and provide relevant documents for requests to recall offenders released on licensed supervision.

  • Review the ongoing detention of recalled offenders.
  • Refer cases to the Parole Board in line with statutory requirements.
  • Work in a demand‐led environment, completing statutory duties until 5 pm and, as required, a fortnightly late rota until approximately 7 pm.
  • Attend the office at 1 Ruskin Square, Croydon, full time for the first 3 weeks to complete training.

Work Arrangements

The MoJ offers hybrid working arrangements where business needs allow. The role can be worked from the base location, other MoJ sites, or home, provided the employee is based in the UK. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate and subject to regular review.

Qualifications and Requirements

Successful candidates will be required to undergo security and identity checks prior to taking up the post. External candidates are subject to a 6‐month probationary period; internal candidates are subject to the same terms if they have not already completed a probationary period within HMPPS. Must be able to work the required hours, including up to 7 pm on demand‐led days.
