Job description

Location: Inner London Crown Court

Proud to serve. Proud to keep justice going

About us

HM Courts & Tribunals Service (HMCTS) is responsible for the administration of criminal, civil and family Courts and Tribunals in England and Wales. Our roles support our court users and colleagues within HMCTS, where people and businesses access potentially life-changing justice. We’re looking for individuals who are committed to public service and making a difference in people’s lives to deliver justice. If you are interested in developing a career with a real purpose, please apply.

We are seeking a highly motivated and organised Court Co-ordinator to support the delivery of the Intensive Supervision Court (ISC). This innovative approach aims to reduce reoffending and substance misuse by placing the judiciary at the centre of rehabilitation, with regular progress reviews and tailored interventions.

As Court Co-ordinator, you will manage the end-to-end process of ISC cases, from pre-sentence report requests through sentencing and monthly reviews. You will act as the key point of contact for the judiciary, probation, and other justice partners, ensuring smooth case progression and effective communication across agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee case management and scheduling of ISC hearings and review meetings.
  • Monitor and report pilot progress to the Strategic Lead and Ministry of Justice.
  • Chair pre-review meetings and weekly case management sessions with delivery partners.
  • Build strong relationships with judiciary, probation, prison services, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure timely listing of cases and resolve delays or complex issues proactively.

Essential Skills:

· Strong relationship-building skills – to be able to form positive working relationship with colleagues, judges, solicitors, and other professional court users.

· Strong communication skills – to be able to work with a range of internal and external stakeholders, some of whom will be very senior, and ensure external stakeholders are abiding with judicial directions. This will require respectfully and confidently holding external stakeholders to account while maintaining a productive working relationship.

· Strong organisational skills – to keep track of a wide range of cases and the actions required to progress them.

· Strong analysis skills – to identify cases that may need additional support and take action accordingly.

· Good IT skills – to be able to record and track cases via the court’s IT systems such as Common Platform, and to work with the Digital Support Officer to ensure video links have been set up and tested before hearings and/or trials. Training would be provided if no existing experience of HMCTS systems.

· A working knowledge of the criminal courts system.

Please refer to the Job description attachment for more information.

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non-contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity.

Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working. Similarly, Hybrid Working will not suit everyone’s circumstances. Arrangements will be discussed and agreed with the successful candidate(s) and subject to regular review.

All employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in an office, subject to local estate capacity).

For current MoJ employees, your base location will need to be changed to the nearest viable office (to your home postcode), either at a HQ building, JCC or JSO within the National Office Network and moved its location’s respective pay scale (any legacy arrangements/locations will need to be amended).

Some of MoJ’s terms and conditions of service are changing as part of Civil Service reform. The changes will apply to staff joining MoJ who are new to the Civil Service. Staff joining MoJ from other civil service employers will transfer onto the new MoJ terms if they are already on 'modernised' terms in their current post or onto 'unmodernised' MoJ terms if they are on 'unmodernised' terms at their current post. Details will be available if an offer is made.
