Responsibilities
- Secure entry and exit of staff, visitors and vehicles
- Conduct searches of staff, prisoners, visitors and vehicles
- Escort vehicles and contractors around the prison site
- Allocate and collect staff keys and radios
- Patrol and search perimeter fence areas
- Operate the prison radio system and monitor CCTV, reporting suspicious activity
- Welcome and escort visitors; monitor and log mail; report contraband and preserve evidence
- Photograph prisoners, process property and parcels, supervise prisoners, assist officers, and deliver food using trolleys or electric tug vehicles
- Transport prisoners and escorts to destinations; collect mail; monitor the PIN phone system; maintain PIN phone request logs
- Understand and respond to national and local policies, incidents and emergencies
Salary and Hours
37‑hour week with 20% unsocial hours allowance. Standard rates include night, evening, weekend and public holiday shifts on a rolling shift pattern.
