This role is part of the Judicial College Planning and Operational Support leadership team. The post manager leads a team that supports magistrate training through a variety of delivery methods – digital, face‑to‑face and blended learning – and works closely with judiciary, the College Board and external stakeholders to deliver training programmes that meet evolving needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of operational staff at AO and EO grades, managing day‑to‑day activities and ensuring effective delivery of magistrate training programmes.
  • Ensure that your team’s assigned training portfolio is delivered on schedule, properly resourced and within budget, including accurate cost reporting and risk management.
  • Work with stakeholders across the Judicial Office, Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service, Ministry of Justice and other partners to plan, manage and monitor new and emerging training needs.
  • Manage the budget for training events, preparing forecasts, monitoring expenditure and reporting on value for money.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement projects and help deliver the Planning and Operational Support Team’s business plan.
  • Plan and arrange the training programme for future years, including the development of an online prospectus.
  • Collaborate with the leadership team to support the wider Planning and Operational Support function and build a resilient, adaptable team.
  • Partner with the College’s Judicial Education Team and Digital and Technical Team to implement and develop digital training delivery.

  • IT skills, including MS Teams and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Salary and Benefits

  • National salary range: £35,335 – £37,847. London salary range: £40,014 – £42,859.
  • Annual leave: 25 days on appointment, increasing to 30 days after five years. Public holidays and an additional privilege day included.
