Responsibilities
- Lead high‑priority policy projects that forward Ministerial or SCS priorities.
- Deliver end‑to‑end project delivery, including setting direction, establishing project management structures, and reporting on progress.
- Gather information, develop project scope, and build considered policy options.
- Draft briefings and develop advice for Ministers and senior leaders.
- Provide input to short‑term problem solving on urgent issues.
- Build and maintain relationships with finance, analytical colleagues, other government departments, operational partners, and a wide range of stakeholders to effect lasting change.
- Support ad‑hoc cross‑cutting policy products such as briefings, PQs and Ministerial communications.
Skills and Experience
Essential- Excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to draft brief and concise material for diverse audiences, including on complex issues.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, able to consider diverse sources, assess risks and opportunities, and reach conclusions or recommendations.
- Organised, efficient, and able to prioritise and deliver quickly to a high standard.
- Capability to build productive working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, including senior colleagues, external stakeholders and cross‑government colleagues.
- Ability to work well independently and as part of a team.
- Familiarity with working in a policy environment and end‑to‑end policy development skills.
- Experience of project management, maintaining project management products, and delivering projects within time frames.
