Location and Working Arrangements

We welcome applications from candidates across the UK. Candidates may be based in Leeds, London HQ, or at the nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office. Flexible working arrangements, part‑time and job‑share options, and compressed hours are available.

About the Analysis Directorate

The Directorate is passionate about improving justice outcomes through innovative research, data and analysis. We deliver high‑quality data and analytical support that informs strategic, policy, finance, corporate and operational decisions. Our multidisciplinary team of around 300 staff uses cutting‑edge tools and techniques, working closely with government partners and frontline service providers.

What You’ll Do – Cross Cutting Performance Analyst

  • Provide analysis and data on accommodation and employment outcomes for people in custody and those on community sentences.
  • Maintain and develop internal league tables, support the production of official statistics publications and develop R skills on the Analytical Platform.
  • Deputising for the SEO when required.

What You’ll Do – Prison Performance Analyst

  • Deliver performance products that inform senior decision‑making across HM Prison and Probation Service.
  • Support the quarterly Prison Performance Tool Dashboard, lead on internal dashboards, contribute to the annual Prison Performance Ratings ratings and develop coding skills in R and Power BI.

Who You Are – Entry Criteria

  • HEO grade: you meet at least one of the following:
  • Analytical, statistical or research degree 2:2 or above, or a higher degree (MSc, PhD).
  • Significant experience demonstrating analytical or data‑driven skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills – able to build relationships with policy and operational stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical ability and working knowledge of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; desirable skills include coding and visualisation in R, SQL and/or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of the statistics code of practice.

Salary & Allowances

National salary range: £35,335 – £37,847. London salary range: £40,014 – £42,859. Specialist allowance: £1,000 (London) – £1,500 (National).
