We are seeking a data‑skilled analyst to support the Cross‑System Insights team within the CJS Insights unit, delivering evidence to inform national criminal justice policy and operational decisions.
Responsibilities
- Manage the production of the monthly CJS Insights Monitoring Pack, collating projection tracking and insights across the Mo J CJS.
- Proactively identify trends and questions for investigation and perform deep dives to explain deviations from projections.
- Communicate emerging and existing trends to policy stakeholders, including senior leaders and Ministers.
- Respond to ad‑hoc data requests from the CJS and other operational stakeholders.
- Provide ad‑hoc analysis for Ministers, DGs, operational stakeholders and OGDs (e. g. No.10, HMT), ensuring accuracy and compliance with QA processes.
- Support development of the Department’s short‑ and long‑term prison population projections, including improvement projects and performance tracking.
- Collaborate with other team areas, including social research analysis of surveys and deep dives with frontline staff.
Qualifications
- Strong quantitative data and analytical judgment, with independent experience of quantitative analytical projects.
- Ability to adapt analysis to stakeholder needs and effectively action outcomes.
- Proven skill in managing partners’ expectations, addressing challenges and adjusting analytics programmes.
- Exceptional planning, prioritisation and project leadership, handling competing timelines and risk management.
- Excellent Excel skills; coding experience in R or Python.
- Existing badged analyst (GORS/GSS/GSR/GES) at level transfer or promotion.
- Security Clearance (SC) required.
Desirable
- Experience managing HEO work and feeding into submissions.
- Experience conducting and analysing surveys and social research deep dives.
- Proficiency in influencing & impact, communicating & influencing, delivering at pace, and making effective decisions.
