The Office of the Public Guardian (OPG) protects people in England and Wales who may not have the mental capacity to make certain decisions for themselves. We are an Executive Agency of the Ministry of Justice (MoJ), set up in 2007 following the introduction of the Mental Capacity Act of 2005.

OPG is responsible for registering lasting powers of attorney (LPA) and enduring powers of attorney (EPA) and supervising deputies who are appointed by the Court of Protection. OPG is a fantastic place to work offering a range of development opportunities.

Team Overview

This is a critical, fast-paced role at the heart of the Operations team at the Office of the Public Guardian, working closely with the Chief Operating Officer (COO). We are looking for a forward-thinking, energetic team member who enjoys working with others and is highly organised.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective management of email, diary, and administrative tasks to the COO and the operations senior leadership team.
  • Support a range of meetings, often sensitive in content, ensuring an accurate account of discussions, decisions, and actions are captured.
  • Provide directorate-level operational support to assist the COO in their duties and responsibilities.
  • Manage your own time and performance, reporting to the Operations Business Manager.

Essential Skills

  • Excellent IT skills with experience of using Microsoft 365 collaboration tools – Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and SharePoint.
  • A highly competent, positive, and organised person with proven experience in administrative matters.
  • A skilled communicator with energy and enthusiasm able to communicate with people at all levels.
