This is a great opportunity to join the Drake Hall team as a senior psychologist, with the primary responsibilities of working alongside the prison SMT and leading the Drake Hall Women’s Estate Psychology Service (WEPS) team, whilst also maintaining a clinical caseload undertaking work aimed at reducing risk and increasing safety. The work of WEPS spans core forensic work as well as a broad range of safety-related work within women’s prisons, and as women transition back into the community. In addition to Parole and sentence planning related work, safety work is a key component of the role at any women’s prison. WEPS adopt a collaborative, strength-based approach, utilising psychological formulation and multiagency working to support the needs of both staff and women in custody.

The team currently consists of three forensic psychologists in training and a registered psychologist; there is a gap for a site-based lead psychologist who would be welcomed by both WEPS and the local operational leadership team.

• Act as a coordinating (clinical) supervisor for trainees undertaking recognised training routes.
• Lead and manage the Drake Hall WEPS team, working alongside the Senior Management Team (SMT).
• Maintain a clinical caseload focused on reducing risk and increasing safety for women in custody and during transition back into the community.
• Contribute to Parole and sentence planning related work and safety initiatives within women’s prisons.
• Collaborate using a strength-based approach, with psychological formulation and multiagency working to support staff and women in custody.

• HCPC registered Forensic Psychologist
• Professional background in Psychology
• Experience in providing clinical supervision
• Completed relevant training in effective models of treatment and best practice
• Likely to be a Chartered Psychologist and Full member of the appropriate division of the BPS if the post requires it
• The post holder should have two years post-registration experience at the point of taking up post; applications from those with a minimum of 18 months post-registration are welcomed, but they will not be able to formally take up the post until registered for two years

• Hybrid Working arrangements offered where business need allows; role can be based at MoJ sites or home in the UK, subject to regular review.
• Nationally advertised roles will be appointed to a MoJ office location (nearest Justice Collaboration Centre or Justice Satellite Office).
• Standard full-time hours: 37 hours per week; flexible working patterns considered in accordance with policy.
