Our Support Officers play a critical role in delivering excellent customer service and administrative support to court users, the judiciary, and management. Working as part of a team, you will contribute to operational, performance and service standard targets across your area. You will progress cases through the court and tribunal system and support functions within HMCTS. You will regularly interact with court and tribunal users, including members of the judiciary and the legal profession. The role requires adaptability, multitasking, and effective execution of a variety of duties, including:
- Preparing papers and files for court, tribunals, hearings and meetings, including processing and handling sensitive information and ensuring accurate outcomes.
- Creating and updating digital records, interpreting required information accurately on a court file.
- Communicating with the public, the judiciary, other court and tribunal users, and representatives of other agencies and organisations.
- Serving as the first point of contact for all court users; meeting members of the public, vulnerable witnesses, and their legal representatives when required.
- Preparing court and hearing rooms and ensuring the court runs efficiently.
This is a 37‑hour per week full‑time, 12‑month fixed‑term contract. Applicants will work a shift pattern that includes Saturdays and may be required to travel locally to cover other courts. The post is based at a Magistrates’ Court in the Law Courts.
