About the role:
Probation services officers help keep the public safe and give offenders the chance to turn their lives around. The role involves managing a caseload of medium and lower risk offenders before and after sentence, assessing and managing risk, supporting offenders with housing, employment and other practical matters, and providing information to courts and agencies.
Responsibilities:
- Provide case-management support to people on probation.
- Assess and manage risk associated with offenders.
- Implement sentences and support offenders in meeting their conditions.
- Produce detailed reports and provide information to courts and other agencies.
- Maintain accurate, timely written records and communicate effectively with stakeholders.
Qualifications:
- No degree required; emphasis on personal qualities.
- Empathetic, patient, resilient, organised and able to work independently.
- Experience working with people who have social or personal difficulties.
- Strong writing skills with the ability to produce clear, accurate reports to tight deadlines.
