Psychology Services for HMPPS Youth Custody Service (YCS) are recruiting Senior Registered Psychologists based in HMYOI Wetherby near York. With approximately 400 children in custody, YCS Psychology Services deliver a trauma‑informed approach across the full spectrum of complex needs.
Responsibilities
- Provide a range of interventions, safety, children's support services and staff well‑being support as part of the YCS Senior Leadership Team.
- Line‑manage and supervise other psychologists in the team, including trainee psychologists.
- Contribute to broader HMPPS Psychology Services, including CPD and career progression across the custodial estate.
- Apply evidence‑based practice to ensure child best interests are upheld in partnership with all agencies.
- Act as a coordinating (clinical) supervisor for trainees undertaking recognised training routes (subject to two‑year post‑registration experience).
Qualifications & Experience
- Professional background in Psychology.
- At least 18 months (preferred 24 months) post‑registration experience.
- Experience in providing clinical supervision.
- Completed relevant training in effective treatment models and best practice.
- Likely to be a Chartered Psychologist and a full member of the appropriate division of the BPS.
Working Arrangements
- Hybrid working arrangements are offered where business needs allow, combining base location, other MoJ sites and/or home working.
- The role is based in the UK and requires attendance in person where required.
- Full‑time hours are 37 per week. Part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing patterns will be considered where they meet the role and business needs.
