An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Band 8 Senior Psychologist post across HMPPS Psychology Services for the Youth Custody Service. Successful applicants will work closely with all partners within YCS to promote the safety and safeguarding of children in our care and provide a safe working environment for all. This includes the ongoing implementation of various projects to promote a safer environment by meeting the needs of all children in our care. Successful applicants would preferably be based in one of the YCS sites but be willing and able to travel across England and Wales to enable effective partner engagement. Experience of working with children in custody is desirable although not essential and full training and support will be provided.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with partners within Youth Custody Service (YCS) to promote safety and safeguarding of children in care.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of a safe working environment within YCS settings.
  • Contribute to ongoing projects aimed at improving safety and safeguarding for children in custody.
  • Travel across England and Wales to enable effective partner engagement (as needed).

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Band 8 Senior Psychologist (post qualification experience required).
  • Two years post-qualification experience prior to taking up the post.
  • Experience of working with children in custody is desirable but not essential.
  • Willingness to travel across England and Wales for partner engagement.
  • Full training and support will be provided.
