Overview: The Prisoner Education Service (PES) is the commissioning route that allows governors and directors to meet the core curriculum needs of their establishment—maths, English, ICT and ESOL—as well as screening and assessments. Delivery through the PES contract is a major part of learning and skills provision in prisons and represents the majority of spend in this area.
Responsibilities:
- Oversee the financial management and control of PES, DPS, Library, HE/FE and Careers Information Advice & Guidance (CIAG) contracted provision.
- Work as part of the education contract management team alongside Core Education Contract Managers, CIAG Contract Managers and Education and Skills Managers to ensure quality of education and stewardship.
- Assume responsibility for managing the family services contract, education digital contracts and education grants where applicable.
Working Arrangements: Hybrid working arrangements are available. Employees are required to be in the office at least 60% of their working hours (approximately three days per week). The role must be based in the United Kingdom.
Qualifications: Cabinet Office Foundation and Practitioner Level Contract Management accreditation or equivalent relevant experience.
Salary: National salary range: £57,398 – £63,139. London salary range: £60,518 – £68,357, dependent on base location.
Benefits: Full‑time work hours (37 hours a week). Leave entitlements are pro‑rated; entitlement may be expressed in hours or days. Eligible for bank, public and privilege holidays (9 days). Pension scheme options available. Work‑life balance support and training opportunities are offered.
