The National Crime in Prison (CiP) team is dedicated to improving justice outcomes for crimes committed within the prison estate. The Area Crime in Prison Coordinator (ACiPCo) position provides an opportunity to support prisons through an area-specific, mobile, peripatetic model- delivering targeted support across the estate. These roles are specifically designed to strengthen capability and build resilience within establishments by providing temporary, needs-led support to either single prisons and/or clusters of prisons. Unlike permanent establishment-based CiPCo roles, post holders will be deployed to specific establishments or clusters for defined periods, supporting the development of sustainable processes, improving adherence to the Crime in Prison Referral Agreement (CiPRA), and embedding effective crime management practices. Deployment will be informed by ongoing area needs analysis, with a clear expectation that post holders will move between locations in line with changing priorities. This approach forms part of a developing area support model, designed to enhance consistency and effectiveness across the estate. Through targeted deployment, the roles will support establishments to implement and embed effective crime management processes, demonstrating sustainable models of resilience and enabling informed consideration of long-term resource and capability requirements. The post holder will be line managed by the Area Crime Manager (Band 5) to provide specialist support to establishments, strengthening crime management processes, improving evidence handling, and promoting effective partnership working with criminal justice agencies. The CiPCo role plays a key role in coordinating crime-related activity within prisons, ensuring consistent application of policy, supporting the Crime in Prison Referral Agreement (CiPRA), and improving outcomes for victims and witnesses of crime., The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows.
